Bear Lake Class of 1988 - Five Year Reunion

In the afternoon of Saturday, July 10, 1993, many people from the class of 88 made their way out to Kevin Reed's home at 16993 Lettau Road in Pleasanton Township.  Kevin Reed organized the class reunion by personally contacting most of the 27 graduates.  Kevin also supplied the food including grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and polish dogs, baked beans, salads, pop, and a half keg of beer.  Kevin spent time earlier setting up a horse shoe toss and building an extra picnic table to accommodate the classmates.

Pictured from left to right are, in the back row, Aaron, Loren, Joel, Kevin, Tom, Sean, and Tracy, and in the front row, Renee, Lori, Brenda, Lisa, Julie, and Paula.

Graduates attending the event, listed alphabetically, included Sean Adams, Julie Babcock, Dwayne Deitz, Tammy Evans, Lisa Harthun, Brenda Hilliard, Loren Humes, Joel Mackey, Tom Miller, Kevin Reed, Renee Richmond, Lori Smith, Paula Ware, and Aaron Wissner.  Tracy Griffis, a classmate for many years, also attended the event.  This turnout accounted for about half of the class.  Also attending were five spouses, two fiancees, three significant others, and two children of classmates.

Ken Rakoczy, the class advisor, also attended the event despite his hectic schedule as an organizer of the Bear Lake Centennial Celebration.  Mr. Rakoczy livened the reunion by sharing tales of the teachers' strike of 1976, the haunted house, and Dwayne Dietz.  Mr. Rakoczy continues to teach at Bear Lake and is an active member of the Bear Lake Lions Club.

Classmates enjoyed talking about years gone by as Brenda Hilliard brought out her high school photo album and as Aaron Wissner shared some pictures and elementary and high school year books.  Classmates also enjoyed tossing horse shoes, playing pool, eating the good food, and in general, having a enjoyable time.

Bear Lake's Centennial Celebration Brings Out More Classmates

JoDee Randall and Jon Merrill were classmates that couldn't make it to the class reunion but who did make it into town to the centennial celebration.  JoDee Randall was busy selling souvenir t-shirts to her local business, the Rockin' R Stables.  Jon Merrill made an appearance at the street dance in Bear Lake during the evening after the fireworks.  Both classmates are doing well and were missed at the reunion.

Classmates In The Service Can't Make It Home For Reunion

Several classmates are in the service and didn't make it to the reunion.  Tracy Hoover, John Mackey, Tami Putney, and Mike Shreve all were on duty during the class of 88's reunion.

Here is about half of the class at Ronnie's wedding in the Fall of 1996.

Since the five-year reunion, three classmates have died due to accidents; Amy Zenker, Kevin Reed and Michael Loveridge.
